Newborn baby clings to mom and howls in protest when removed

A recent video of a newborn baby clinging to his mom after a cesarean birth has gone viral. According to a Feb. 27 report by the Daily Mail the details of the birth, including the mother’s name, are unknown at this time. This touching video has made the rounds on social media sites and has gathered over 60,000 views on YouTube since it was posted on Feb. 27, 2014.

The video of a nurse introducing the baby to his mom for the first time depicts a touching moment between mother and child as the baby clings to his mom’s face. When the nurse attempts to remove the baby to clean him up, he bursts into howls of protest. Returning the baby to his mom is met with a cessation of crying.

While some viewers claim that the baby clinging to mom’s face is nothing more than a natural instinct, others disagree.

“This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and tender videos I have ever seen!! There is nothing more beautiful than a mother and her child. The Miracle of Life and Love IS SIMPLY AMAZING!” reports one viewer.

According to the University of Washington, recent studies have confirmed that babies begin learning language before they are born by listening to their mother’s voice from the womb. They listen to their mother’s speech for the last 10 weeks in the womb and can distinguish sounds from their native language when born.

It appears this newborn recognizes his mother’s voice and is holding on with all his might to remain close to her. That, of course, is a matter of opinion.

“Omg it's a newborn it gonna cry [sic]...the nurse is holding it to her face it no choice but to hold on!!!!” says viewer Shawn Johnson.
