Newberry claims Daytona truck pole

Brennan Newberry claimed his first-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series pole on Friday at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for the Nextera Energy 250 to be held at the track later the same evening. Newberry's pole-winning lap time was 50.797 seconds. The pole comes in his 11th-career start in the series.

Justin Lofton turned in the second-fastest lap time to claim the other front-row starting spot for Friday night's race. James Buescher qualified third.

The Nextera Energy 250, the first race of the 2013 Camping World Truck Series season, is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET Friday. The race can be seen live on SPEED Channel, with pre-race coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
