Newark's Woofstock 2014 takes shape

Created four years ago to celebrate the anniversary of Newark's Hell's Kitchen Lounge, Woofstock has become a major animal adoption event in Essex County. The 2014 edition is looking to continue this tradition.

Tragedy set to headline Woofstock 2014.

On Saturday, June 14th, Woofstock, which is hosted by event producer Dave Menace, will be held outside of Hell's Kitchen Lounge starting at noon. There will be local animal rescue organizations teaming up with the NJSPCA in order to help those looking to adopt a new pet for their home. Money, pet food and other pet supplies can be donated. The all ages event is pet friendly, so be sure to bring your animals.

While folks are out with their new pets, they can rock out to the live music set for the outdoor stage. Some of the acts that performed at past Woofstocks include Those Mockingbirds, Brick City Riot, and Justina. Headlining this year's event are Tragedy, the tri-state area's all metal Bee Gees tribute band. Other performers set for the event are Weekend Love Affair, Rock House, Reese Van Riper, L Train, DSU, The Ruffin' It Showcase, Four K, Choclatt Jared, Apparus, and The Deloreons. If that wasn't enough for you, Felicia Fatale, Alexander Spitfire, and Nikki Talis will be giving the crowd an epic fire show. The stacked show is free, but those looking to drink will have to pay a $5 donation to obtain a drink wristband.

When 10pm comes around, the outdoor activities cease, and the party gets moved to the lounge. DJs Nikkimixx, Acme, Ruin, and Luna & Nuematic will be spinning tunes the rest of the evening while go-go dancers Nina La Voix and Audrey Love keep the energy going. Special performances from Glow Burlesque, Pole-Ternative, and Scarlit Artesque will also be held during this afterparty. While the outside concert is all ages, the indoors event is 21 and over. There will be a $5 cover to get inside. People with a drink wristband from the outdoors event gain free entry. Those looking to volunteer for the event can email for more info.
