New Zealand Mint announces series of commemorative Magic coins

See also

In what's been a big month for Magic announcements, today brought perhaps one of the strangest Magic product solicitations at all - a New Zealand Mint collectible coin. The Arcana article that makes the announcement calls the one-ounce 99.9 percent pure silver bar-shaped coin the first in a series - this one being the only juxtaposition of the iconic Jason Chan art of Jace, the Mind Sculptor and the portrait of Her Maj Elizabeth II that ever has been or will be seen.

Unlike most Magic products, there's no MSRP as of yet - silver prices being what they are, there are bound to be fluctuations in that price. The New Zealand government has an expression of interest form for the Jace coin on their mint site, so if you're really interested in antipodean precious metals stamped with the most infamous planeswalker card art of all time, now would be the time to sign up.

Interested in one of these? Going to hold out for later items in the series? Mildly freaked out by the whole idea? Let me know in the comments.
