The Opera Index Vocal Competition of 2012 was held on October 9, 10 and 12 at The Lang Hall in Hunter College in New York City. Seventy-eight young singers were heard at the preliminary auditions and sixteen young singers won prizes worth $50,000. So on Sunday, January 13, 2013 these 16 major award winners will sing at Opera Index's major fundraising event along with honoree, Metropolitan bass-baritone Eric Owens, who himself won a major award from Opera Index back in 1993.
Now this exciting black tie gala will be held at The Essex House, 160 Central Park South, New York, NY. Along with an evening of singing with this year's competition winners, there will be several celebrities, gourmet food and all in the beautiful ambiance of The Grand Salon located in New York special Jumeirah Essex House.
