New York Yankees mid season review

All righty then, so we may be a little early, but not so early that we cannot begin our mid season review of the 30 Major League Baseball teams. We are approaching the All Star break, the traditional half way point of the season. So we begin in the American League East with the New York Yankees. They are 43-27, 6-4 over their last ten and leading tied for the division lead with the Boston Red Sox, and just a half game ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays. For the most part things are pretty good in Yankee land.

2010 New York Yankees payroll

It should surprise no one that once again the New York Yankees will lead the MLB in payroll dollars. We can argue this a lot of different ways, one that they are ruining the sport of baseball, and two in a down economic year their payroll raised by 2%.

2010 MLB preview: New York Yankees

Where does the time go, between the Super Bowl, Daytona 500, and the Winter Olympics it seems that the start of the 2010 MLB Spring Training really snuck up on us this year. With that being said let us take a look at the 30 team of Major League Baseball starting with the most likely to win another championship, the New York Yankees.

Yankees bring back Vazquez

As with every other off-season the annual arms race between the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the rest of baseball is in full swing. The only real difference this year is the Yankees are trying to remain somewhat financially responsible, and are trying to bring in a payroll under 200 million. However they have no problem trading away players and prospects to give them one of the deepest rotations in the Major Leagues. With that in mind the Yankees, traded for SP Javier Vazquez to come in and be their fourth arm. That leaves Joba Chamberlain amongst others to fight it out for the fifth and final starting rotation spot.

Are the Yankees and the Red Sox ruining baseball?

Each and every off season we sit back, and watch the New York Yankees, and the Boston Red Sox compete in their annual arms race, and every high price free agent looks to cash in with one of these two teams. Since Major League Baseball has no salary cap, these two teams often wind up with the best players since they can afford to pay them more.

Yankees, Tigers, and D-Backs agree on three way blockbuster trade

On the second day of the MLB Winter Meetings three teams pulled off a blockbuster trade that shows three different organizations, trying to accomplish very different things.

Tigers, D-Backs, and Yankees working on mega deal

Major Leagues Baseball kicked off its Winter Meetings Monday in Indianapolis, Indiana and the Detroit Tigers were the subject of many rumor as they look to unload some talent, and some pricey contracts. OF Curtis Granderson and P Edwin Jackson have been the subject of most of the rumors, since the Tigers have let the other teams know that they are available should another club meet their asking price. While we don’t know what that price is, it is sure to include some solid bullpen help, and a few blue chip prospects.

2009 MLB season in review: New York Yankees

The final piece of the 2009 MLB season in review is the World Series Champion New York Yankees. In 2009 they won their 27th World title, opened a brand new stadium, had a steroids controversy, had day to day operational control of the team pass from George Steinbrenner to his son Hank, and had a typical Yankees season in front of the New York media. What else can we say, the Yankees are the premier baseball organization, and with their ownership of the Yes Network, they have a near bottomless source of cash to spend on their payroll. Many say that is unfair, but they have got the business side of baseball figured out.

Yankees incur big debt for new stadium

The New York Yankees are defying the downturn in the economy first by building a premier new stadium, and then by incurring a huge debt load for the stadium’s construction. In fact the Yankees organization will have a total debt of 1.3 billion once their new stadium opens next month.
