A Higginsville, NY, witness reports an object with triangle-shaped lights and a second object with square-shaped lights directly above in the sky, according to December 9, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The witness believes it was two objects on first observation.
"I deliberately noted that I could see the background sky between the two objects.," the witness stated.
The witness then moved inside to alert family members, but once outside, the group could only see one object.
"Although I previously saw the distinction of two aircraft with the sky between the two, by the time we all ran out, we only saw one cluster of lights."
Family members commented on what they were seeing.
"What they remarked on was that there were an unusual number of solo blinking lights around the yellowed clusters of lights. There had to be about five blinking, white lights following the cluster of yellow lights. The cluster of yellow lights and accompanying white lights continued from east to northeast, at a slight inclination."
The object appeared to move toward Syracuse Airport.
No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed December 9, 2011. The events occurred on December 8, 2011. The above quotes were edited for clarity.
New York is a current UFO ALERT 4 rating, with a higher than average number of UFO sightings nationally. New York had 19 reports in November 2011 - the 9th highest reporting state - compared to California with 72 cases, the highest reporting state in the nation.

NY, December 8, 2011 - Two objects, first one triangle-shaped lights, other square sharped. MUFON Case 33935.
Higginsville, NY. As I stepped out from under my porch, I notice directly above me two aircraft. The first aircraft had static lights that were triangle shaped, the second aircraft was absolutely directly behind the first, and had a box-shaped array of lights.
I deliberately noted that I could see the background sky between the 2 objects.
I then ran into the house to notify family, who came running out to the front of the house, which we then saw only 1 object (or a cluster of lights that only seemingly would look like 1 aircraft).
Although I previously saw the distinction of 2 aircraft with the sky between the two, by the time we all ran out we only saw 1 cluster of lights.
What they remarked on was that there were an unusual number of solo blinking lights around the yellow'ed clusters of lights. There had to be about 5 blinking white lights following the cluster of yellow lights.
The cluster of yellow lights and accompanying white lights continued from E to NE, at a slight inclination.
The fact that there were unusually # of single white lights following this small cluster of yellow lights as it head toward the Syracuse, NY airport was indeed a fact to mention.
