With week one clocked in for New York Restaurant Week, foodies haven’t even scraped the dish…. The glass is still half full.

The celebrated salute to food and drink in New York City runs for another two weeks to August 15th.

Enjoy NYC Restaurant Week on Sundays, too.

In reviewing restaurants and bars, this Examiner has a few favorites to recommend. The foodie tips here recognize the following restaurants for a combination of must-have sizzlers including the highest quality food—preferably and most often driven by seasonal and market ingredients; creative, inventive menus; ambiance and décor; along with exciting-tasting cocktails: and extra points for use of the local, seasonal ingredients; craft-brewed beer and surging wine lists that offer a mix of affordable and aspirational tastes and price points – imports and local, too.

In alphabetical order, here are a few eateries to tempt the palate:

"21 Club - a true classic from its clubby, Prohibition-era interiors to the robust, traditional American fare and portion size. Think burgers and steaks and wine and beer, oh my!

Bar Boulud – This is a superb French restaurant – a culinary triumph in master chef Daniel Boulud’s elegant portfolio. Enough said. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to dine at one of Gotham’s best.

Blue Smoke – Whether dining at the Flatiron or the Battery Park City location, BBQ rarely gets better. From Chef’s Picks that feature North Carolina Pulled Pork, Memphis Baby Back Ribs or Seared Gulf Shrimp. (Gotham needs to name a BBQ style, no?) Even vegetarians can enjoy Blue Smoke: a hickory smoked vegetable burger with quinoa, lentils and tomato chutney is tops.

Flatiron: 212-447-7733

Battery Park City: 212-889-2005

Craftbar – Founded by celebrity chef, Tom Colicchio, the restaurant today remains a signature restaurant in the Colicchio portfolio. Craftbar offers an exciting American menu in a casual setting. Dreaming of crazy good? How about smoked Gouda Grill Cheese, Bouchot Mussels – with Kaffir Lime Leaf, Fermented Chili Past, and Szechuan pepper? Or how about hibiscus lemonade or Lionshead Pilsner? Wait – the Blueberry Pistachio Crumb Tart with roasted corn ice cream are just inside the pearly Foodie gates. The restaurant is participating in NY Restaurant Week for lunch only.
