New York Mayor Bill de Blasio seen illegally throwing snow in street

Newly-inaugurated New York Mayor Bill de Blasio was captured on video shoveling snow in front of his house, but as Jim Hoft observed at the Gateway Pundit Sunday, it appears he was violating a city law against throwing snow in the street.

"It was only his fourth day on the job and already he’s breaking the law," Hoft wrote.

In the YouTube video, de Blasio told reporters he was demonstrating his technique, as he dumped snow directly in front of him rather than to the side and on more than one occasion, appeared to dump it directly in the street.

But according to Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty, throwing snow into the street is illegal.

"As you clear your sidewalk, keep in mind: YOU MUST NOT THROW SNOW INTO THE STREET," he wrote. "It's against the law, and it forces Sanitation to re-plow your street. Also, you should never cover fire hydrants with snow - this could interfere with firefighting efforts."

Those who disobey the law, he added, could be fined between $100 and $350.

"'Every man' mayor Bill de Blasio should be fined for shoveling snow into a city street," said a post at the conservative blog Weasel Zippers.

The new mayor has already begun to spark criticism, with threats to unilaterally wipe out the city's 155-year-old horse and carriage industry.

In December, Zakiyah Ansari, a member of de Blasio’s transition team, received an award from the Communist Party USA.

Joelle Fishman, host of the event and chair of CPUSA’s Political Action Commission, called de Blasio's election a "victory over racism."

"It is a victory over stop and frisk. It is a victory over 20 years of direct Wall St. rule. But it is only a beginning. To realize the possibilities, everyone here has an important part to play going forward," Fishman added.

Apparently, it's also a victory for imperial leaders who think they can shovel snow into the street any time they want.
