New York Knicks trade completed with Oklahoma City Thunder

A New York Knicks trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder went down on Thursday (Feb. 21). The Knicks trade sent small forward Ronnie Brewer to the Thunder and according to a report from Sports Illustrated, the Knicks get a second-round pick in return.

Brewer had not been seeing a lot of minutes in the rotation for the Knicks with the return of players from injuries. Iman Shumpert also stepped into the starting rotation, leaving Brewer buried on the bench. This made him very expendable and the Thunder came calling to add depth to its own roster.

This trade works out nicely for both teams, because OKC could use the help on defense in its second unit and the Knicks will definitely need to look for some youth in the coming NBA drafts.

This New York Knicks trade probably won't make any headlines for fans, but it does get a little salary off the books in the short-term. This is also the second minor trade that OKC completed before the NBA trade deadline hit, so the front office is clearly trying to set up the team for another title run.
