On Monday September 2, the New York Jets have been working overtime on this Labor Day weekend. They signed Brady Quinn after he was released by the Seattle Seahawks. This was also two days after releasing Greg McElroy. CBS Sports wonders why the Jets would bring in another quarterback right before the season starts.
According to Top 10+1 Sports, this move could mean that Mark Sanchez won’t be available in the next couple of weeks. They also wondered why the Jets brought in Graham Harrell for a couple days. Harrell lost his backup job to Vince Young. That’s the same Vince Young that got cut one week later.
So within a week, the Jets signed two quarterbacks and released two quarterbacks and they still find themselves with four quarterbacks on the roster. Fans still aren't opposed to playing multiple quarterbacks each game.
Right now it looks like Geno Smith will be the starter, but was the move to bring in Brady Quinn more than to have security at the back up spot?
Either way, Quinn has six days to get ready for the start of the Jets season against Tampa Bay. That is unless New York wants to release Brady Quinn prior to Sunday’s game.
Stay tuned to what some writers have referred to the Jets’ situation as the “quarterback carousel.”
