New York Jets free agency/player update

The winds of change continue to blow throughout Florham Park as several free agents from the New York Jets roster have signed elsewhere. Here is a quick recap of some of the recent comings and goings.

Mike Devito- Kansas City Chiefs (3 yrs, $12.6 million)

Shonn Greene- Tennessee Titans (3 yrs, $10 million)

LaRon Landry- Indianapolis Colts ( 4 yrs, $24 million)

Yeremiah Bell- Arizona Cardinals ( 1 yr, $905,000) - This one surprises me a bit as I thought Bell would be re-signed, especially under this type of contract.

Dustin Keller- Met with the Miami Dolphins

Players Jets have shown interest in

Brandon Gibson- St. Louis Rams wide receiver

Mike Goodson- Oakland Raiders running back

Antwan Barnes- San Diego Chargers outside linebacker

Kevin Kolb- Speculation that Jets will be interested once Kolb is released. Kevin has ties to offensive coordinator Marty Morningweh.

The early defections from the Jets roster has left the team subject to intense scrutiny from the media. The fact of the matter is that free agency has gone exactly as planned for the Jets. Gang Green is in the process of overhauling their roster which means out with the old and in with the new. This offseason will be about creating salary space and finding quality players at the right price. The New York Jets do not have the resources to splurge on the big names or to make aggressive moves.

I think that Jets fans need to remain a bit patient and let the entire offseason play out before you press the panic button. Everyone demanded change and now that it is happening people are complaining. The rebuilding process can become frustrating but it is far too early to start bashing the front office.
