New York Jets 2013 Draft Preview: Expert's early predictions

With the 2013 NFL Draft less than two months away and the results from the scouting combine pouring in it is time to start looking at the players that could be on the New York Jets radar. Listed below are some of the expert's early predictions for Gang Green's first round pick.

Gil Brandt - NFL.com : Ziggy Ansah (Defensive End - BYU) A player with great size that could help the Jets pass rush.

Scott Pioli - NFL.com: Cordarrelle Patterson (Wide Receiver -Tennessee) An explosive receiver that can help the Jets spread the field.

Brian Billick - NFL.com: Jarvis Jones (OLB- Georgia) An outside pass rusher that the Jets desperately need.

Mike Tannenbaum- NFL.com: Cordarrelle Patterson (Wide Receiver- Tennesee)

Charlie Casserly- NFL.com: Damontre Moore (DE- Texas A&M) A solid defensive player that could help improve the pass rush as an outside linebacker.

Rob Rang- CBS Sports: Matt Barkley (Quarterback- USC) The Jets search for a franchise quarterback continues.

Pat Kirwan- CBS Sports: Barkevious Mingo ( DE/OLB- LSU) An explosive player that could flourish under Rex Ryan.

Chris Steuber: Chance Warmack (OG -Alabama) The Jets land a top lineman to address one of their two holes on the offensive line.

Scott Wright- NFL Draft Countdown: Dion Jordan (OLB- Oregon) An explosive pass rusher at the outside linebacker position.

Matt Bitonti -Draft Daddy: Jarvis Jones (OLB-Georgia)

As you can see many of the experts have the New York Jets adding an outside pass rusher in the first round. Rex Ryan's defense desperately needs an explosive playmaker, especially at the linebacker position.

I like the idea of drafting a lineman like Warmack in the first round as Gang Green may have to replace both guards. I am not completely convinced that Vlad Ducasse is a capable starter in the NFL.

I understand the thinking of going with a wide receiver in the first round, as the Jets definitely need to add a dynamic pass catcher on offense. Add in the uncertainty surrounding Santonio Holmes and it makes even more sense.

I honestly cannot see the Jets taking Matt Barkley. At this point Barkley is guilty by association when it comes to being a quarterback from USC. The potential media/fan backlash alone will prevent Gang Green from taking Matt.
