New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators: exclusive live game pix, March 19, 2013 (Photos)

The New York Islanders lost a heartbreaker against the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. The Isles were up by two goals at the start of the third period but the Senators managed four unanswered tallies in the third to take the win away from the Islanders.

Scoring for the Senators were Matt Kassian, Jakob Silfverberg, Zack Smith, Sergei Gonchar and Guillaume Latendresse. Scoring for the Islanders were Keith Aucoin, Josh Bailey, and Lubomir Visnovsky.

The Islanders take on the Montreal Canadiens tonight at home and the blistering hot Pittsburgh Penguins who have won 10 straight and lead the Eastern Conference. The Islanders have a habit of beating the best teams in the east. They beat Montreal recently when they were the top team in the east. They also beat the New Jersey Devils last month when they were the number one team in the east.

The Islanders will need to win some games and get some momentum going if they are going to make the playoffs. The Isles are among a handful of teams (Devils, Flyers, Rangers, and Hurricanes) desperately trying to string together some wins and make a run at securing a playoff spot.
