New York Fashion Week 2014 continued its reign in Manhattan Friday, Feb. 7 with Sydney fashion designer Rebecca Vallance making her debut with a showcase of her new fall/winter 2014 collection. Vallance’s show follows designers BCBG MaxAzria and Nicholas K, who as the Examiner previously reported, kicked off Fashion Week on Thursday with a heavy focus on long maxi dresses and gothic chic couture, respectively.

According to the Brisbane Times, Vallance’s New York Fashion Week fall/winter runway collection, titled, “Ladies Man,” was inspired by androgynous dressing. Featuring a “mixture of menswear-inspired cuts with a ladylike polish to them,” Vallance explained her selections. “'I found that personally I was wearing more pieces with a menswear influence, so I've translated that into the collection,” she said.

Vallance, who had not accounted for possible snow delays was in near panic mode a few days ago. “'The collection is still arriving because the heavy snow is causing havoc with the planes. Everybody tells me it's going to be OK, but it's minus 10 and there is more snow coming tonight,” the designer said as she nervously awaited the arrival of her collection.

E! News reports that New York Fashion Week 2014 is scheduled to run through Feb. 13 at “the tents” at Lincoln Center, but some big names like Alexander Wang will show offsite.
