It is hard to believe that New York Fashion Week has come to an end. After a whirlwind week of parties, presentations, and fashion related events below are a few highlights from our adventures.
On Thursday, September 5, VEVO and The style network joined forces to host a party celebrating the launch of "Styled to Rock," a new reality show on the Style network, created by pop-star Rihanna. The event was held at a super chic and massive Skylight Modern in Manhattan's art district, Chelsea. Performances by Bridget Kelly and Cazzette kept the crowd on their toes all night, while Erin Wasson was spotted hosting while wearing a black leather pencil skirt and bra top, as she introduced Cazzette to the stage. Other celebrity sightings included singer Elle Varner, Mack Wilds, Luke James, Emily B, and Ravaugn. Music videos were played throughout the night, while the crowd continued to be serenaded by an eclectic mix of house and pop that brought everyone together as they danced and mingled. During the event we caught up with TV host and media personality Adrienne Bailon who filled us in on her upcoming endeavors, which includes a new movie and gospel track.
Examiner.com was invited to the Alexander Wang after-party as a guest of Fiji Water. The bash was presented by Shade: Ladyfag & BRCDBR. Held all the way downtown at the South Street Seaport at the Mall at Pier 17, hundreds of fashionistas and influencers were in attendance on September 7. We also spotted a few stars such as Rihanna and Nicki Minaj (who was the surprise performer.) This is the first time we had attended a party in a vacant mall, but knew it would be epic since Wang is known for throwing spectacular events. After taking two escalators to the top floor, we could hear music blaring. As we began to walk toward the party, we spotted fluorescent japanese style lights and symbols and cute signs with japanese writing on them. As we walked in a bit more, there was a beautiful Essie Nail pop-up where guests could get manicures. Soon, we hit the first bar station, which had a "Little Tokyo" sign hanging above it. Ty-Ku was being served there. Across from that bar, there was a pop-up Kawaii Shop, which gave away an assortment of Hello Kitty presents like book bags, blankets, stationary, umbrellas, dolls and more. There was a main dance floor area and a stage one one side. The DJ was spinning on the stage. There were models dressed like geisha, handing out drinks and NARS cosmetics. After checking out the Hello Kitty store, we walked towards a video game area. Yes, Wang had a pop up arcade, as well! Blue and green lazer lights were flashing throughout the party. There was also a cool lounge space, which was located in a japanese style house. A beautiful fake cherry blossom tree hung over the house. Around 1 am Alexander Wang took the stage to introduce Nicki Minaj. She performed hits like "Starships" and "Moment 4 Life" for almost 20 minutes. "You guys have been amazing and Alexander I just want to bow down to you and tell that you you are great and you are everything, I just love your spirit so much, he's such a sweetheart, thank you for having me," Nicki told the crowd before she closed the show with "Super Bass."
