New York Fashion Week 2014 debuted in Manhattan Thursday, Feb. 6, with designer Nicholas K kicking off the Fall/Winter 2014 shows according to Feb. 6 DIY Fashion report. Nicholas K design team, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz kept their runway collection, which included looks for men, toned down only with color. From bare abs to gothic beauty, the duo took their edgy collection to the next level.

Never afraid of pushing the envelope or even straying off the grid every now and then, the Nicholas K Fall/Winter 2014 collection appearing on the runway was pretty low key, with a heavy focus on layering in the cold. The clothes, ranging from midriff tops showcasing toned abs, oversized jackets, shirts and slouchy pants were showcased in primarily neutral colors, including grey, black, blue, with pops of deep red and chocolate.

Thanks to the design team, Nicholas K devotees should have no trouble finding chunky knit scarves and sweaters to get through next winter. As far as beauty and fashion combined, gothic chic was the name of the game. The sleek black bobs, sharp black nails and heavy dark eyes gave the collection an edge with a New York State of mind. The collection captured the essence of the brand, which according to the designers is a “global luxury brand that elicits the modern urban nomad.”

According to E! News, New York Fashion Week 2014 is scheduled to run from Feb 6. through Feb. 13 at “the tents” at Lincoln Center, but some big names like Alexander Wang will show offsite. In addition to Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria and Tadashi Shoji are two of several designers slated to debut the first fall/winter 2014 looks at Fashion Week.
