New York Fashion Week 2014 or Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week officially kicks off in New York City Thursday, Feb. 6, and despite threats of an imminent snowstorm, the City is ready for all the designers, models and revelers, according to a Feb. 5 E! News report.
New York Fashion Week is scheduled to run from Feb 6. through Feb. 13 at “the tents” at Lincoln Center, but some big names like Alexander Wang will show offsite. Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria and Tadashi Shoji are three of the designers slated to open up Fashion Week.

According to According to ABS-CBN News, designers will showcase their fall/winter 2014 collections in at least “300 catwalk” presentations before the fashion industry jets off to London and Europe for the London, Milan and Paris Fashion Week shows.
As the Examiner previously reported, fashionistas and designers have descended on the City ready to take in every bit of what the upcoming season has to offer. “Fashion Week has become this massive, massive thing, and it's outgrown its traditional boundaries,” InStyle magazine fashion news director Eric Wilson said. “It's a question of how it's going to manage its growth at this point.”
There was a time when Fashion Week was all about seasoned professionals and a few celebrities scoring a sneak peek. Now every fashionista, including fashion bloggers and anyone interested in fashion can score a coveted seat. Abby Schreiber, an associate fashion editor for Paper Magazine observes, “One thing I hear again and again is just how overwhelming Fashion Week has become. The number of people interested in Fashion Week has ballooned. It's not as exclusive anymore.”
