New York Fashion Week 2014 kicked off the first day with celebrities modeling red hot dresses rocking the runway for the Heart Truth fall 2014 collection, according to a Feb. 7 UK Yahoo News report. From actresses to reality television stars, models and athletes, everyone showed support for the event, which puts the spotlight on fighting heart disease.
Annasophia Robb stunned in an Alice & Olivia black and red gown with lace motif, while Victoria Justice rocked an off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta floor length gown, worthy of the Academy Awards red carpet. Bella Thorne was sleek in Badgley Mischka.
But it was not just gowns that stole the spotlight. Kat Graham rocked the event in a Mathieu Mirano mini leather skirt and top, while Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn strutted her crutches down the runway in a short, figure-hugging Cynthia Rowley dress.
Yahoo News reports that the celebrities were excited and honored to be part of Red dress campaign event. Joan Jett, who showcased a red Catherine Malandrino jumpsuit, said the event was very personal because she lost her mother to congenital heart failure. “You got no heart, you got no life, so I think it's important for women to recognize that,” she said.
Singer and actress Anika Noni Rose noted that she was honored to participate in the runway show in memory of a friend’s mother who died of heart disease. She observed that New York is in full bloom during Fashion Week, telling the Associated Foreign Press that “New York is such a stylish City.” As far as the shows, “It fits New York but it becomes more exciting. I feel like you see more people on the streets dressed for Fashion Week, whether they're going to a show or not, because they know it's here. And it's pretty fantastic.”
New York Fashion Week 2014 continued its reign in Manhattan Friday, Feb. 7 with Sydney fashion designer Rebecca Vallance making her debut with a showcase of her new fall/winter 2014 collection. Vallance’s show followed designers BCBG MaxAzria and Nicholas K, who kicked off Fashion Week on Thursday with a heavy focus on long maxi dresses and gothic chic couture, respectively.
According to E! News, New York Fashion Week 2014 is scheduled to run through Feb. 13 at “the tents” at Lincoln Center, but some big names like Alexander Wang will show offsite.
