New York Fashion Week 2014: Supermodels wear Spanx on the runways

New York Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, Feb. 6 in New York. The already thin supermodels were reportedly wearing Spanx on the runways, according to a Feb. 6 report by the Miami Herald. It’s not like they don’t need the undergarments as it is.

On Tuesday evening, Spanx had its own fashion show. They sent tiny models down the runway in boyshorts, bras and other undergarments that Spanx creates. It’s shocking that they didn’t use average-sized women in their fashion show.

Victoria’s Secret lingerie model Miranda Kerr was also there to pose in some of the undergarments. She put all of the women to shame.

Sara Blakely helped launch the brand in 2000. Founded in 1935, the brand was often compared to Wonderbra. Blakely also started Manx in 2010.

Hundreds of designers are expected to show their collections for fall 2014 on the runways and showrooms across New York. The event is expected to last through next Thursday. The week will end with Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.
