New York Fashion Week sets the stage for fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg to debut her year-long partnership with American Express to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress, according to a Feb. 4 Yahoo Finance News report.
According to ABS-CBN News, New York kicks off Fashion Week 2014 on Feb. 6, showcasing the fall/winter 2014 collections, emerging and established designers in at least 300 “catwalk presentations,” before the fashion industry heads off to the shows in London, Paris and Milan.
Despite the snow and ice forecast looming over the City, including a reported cancellation of 1,300 flights in New York, Furstenberg is slated to join other big names like Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang to introduce the hottest looks for the upcoming season. “New York City is the epicenter of fashion,” Furstenberg said in a statement, promising “something special” to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the wrap dress, ABS-CBN News reports.
According to Yahoo Finance News, Furstenberg and American Express plan to showcase the start of their collaboration at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 5 P.M. ET. At that time, American Express UNSTAGED Fashion with DVF will bring fashionista fans the digital front row view of von Furstenberg’s Fall 2014 collection, live streamed on AmexUnstaged.com and DVF.com. The event combines fashion and music, with a live musical performance by St. Vincent.
“American Express and Diane von Furstenberg have a long history of collaboration and mutual admiration,” said John Hayes, chief marketing officer, American Express. “We are thrilled to partner, once again, to celebrate the journey of Diane’s iconic wrap dress. Diane is a true visionary, and we could not think of a better way to begin this relationship than by welcoming her into our American Express UNSTAGED family and sharing her designs with fans everywhere.”
The fashion designer, whose invention is a flattering fashion staple for women around the world, is excited to work with American Express on this innovative collaboration. “I am so excited to work with American Express and St. Vincent to create a wonderful experience for fashion and music lovers alike,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “It is a truly special way to celebrate the dress that started it all!”
The exclusive collaboration between American Express and Furstenberg continues throughout 2014, offering Card Members and Furstenberg customers exclusive fashion events. Tickets for American Express UNSTAGED Fashion with DVF are available for Card Members online.
Nicholas K, BCBG Max Azria and Tadashi Shoji are three of the designers scheduled to debut New York Fashion Week on Feb. 6.
