This July, New York Deli News will celebrate 25 years of being the most authentic New York delicatessen in Denver. Family owned and operated by Al and Tory Belsky, the natives of Long Island want to thank their Denver ‘family’ for contributing to the deli’s success. “We are fortunate to have so many loyal and regular customers that help make the deli more than just a place to eat, for many it feels like home ” says Al Belsky who prides himself on personally knowing a majority of the clientele. Al grew up working in his father’s deli on 39th Street in Manhattan which they closed after 30 years to move to Denver. In addition to the Belsky family members, the rest of the staff are regulars too. But familiar faces aren't the only reason to come to the deli.
Customers crave New York favorites such as ‘The Stage’ a culinary concoction of corned beef, pastrami, melted Swiss cheese served open faced on potato pancakes. Kosher favorites such as lox, matzo brei, borscht and sable fish are also wildly popular. For those with a less adventurous palate, staples such as western omelets, B.L.T.’s and beef brisket are all sure to please. Like any good family meal, portions are hardy and satisfying.
