The calendar says January, but that doesn't stop New York cyclists from heading outdoors for a spin this Saturday, Sunday and also Monday, the holiday observing Martin Luther King's birthday. Assuming the weather cooperates here's what's happening:
- New York Cycle Club leaders have scheduled two different "Die Hard" A-level rides for members, one off-road, the other on asphalt for Saturday morning Jan. 14. There are several spots left. Sign up at NYCC.org.
- Although a B-15 Saturday morning NYCC ride is full, a B-18 ride of 30 miles, dubbed "Quick and early to the (Palisades) market in New Jersey and back" is still open.See nycc.org/ for details.
- The Five Boro Bike Club offers three different rides Saturday, one over the George Washington Bridge to Bergen County, another from the Bronx into Westchester, and a third in Queens. See 5bbc.org for details.
- Sunday morning Jan. 20 former NYCC president George Arcarola has posted an A-19 ride of 55 miles from Queens to Oyster Bay for any and all takers. See nycc.org for details.
- Also Sunday morning, Five Boro leaders will be pedaling 30 miles or so from the Bronx, from Queens and from Strictly Bicycles in Fort Lee. See 5bbc.org for details.
