New Yoga hike offered by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (Video)

According to the Sentinel of Pennsylvania, in an article posted September 12, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) is now offering a Yoga Hike as part of their events that happen at the ATC every third Thursday. The new Stewardship hike, Yoga event will be available at 6 p.m., Sept. 19 at Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs and at Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Gardners. Attendees can look forward to a 30 minute Yoga class taught by Michele Landis and Lisa Stets who are yoga teachers from "Simply Well" in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Right after the Yoga class, participants will head off on a hike of the Appalachian Trail with Dennis Hurley, from the Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club, and Mike O’Connor, from the Mountain Club of Maryland. Although the hike and all events like this are free to the public, there is a 25 maximum person space for the Yoga hike, but the event is free and will be enjoyed more because of the loosening up that the Yoga will provide the hikers. Yoga has been known to calm your mind, limber the body, heal injuries in the body as well as increase vitality and cause the immune system to act as it is supposed too, allowing the body to heal itself, among lots of other health benefits.

Hiking is an event that is very heart healthy. When done right, there is an increase in metabolism, a drop of access body fat, the persons body learns properly how to handle body fat thereby causing a healthy increase in muscle mass and limbering of the tendons and ligaments.
