New Years Day Intentions | Lessons from the Dog

Mahalo to 2011 and aloha to 2012.

2011 has been a year of change for so many.  We are learning that our world of more, more, more may need to change to a place where we learn to experience life, spend less and find our happiness is in the joy of relationships, in what we do on a daily basis with the people, including our dogs that we spend our time with.

Write your 2012 Love List

Resolution has almost become a negative word.  Take this as another lesson from your dog.  Don’t get up on January 1 and resolve to do things differently.  Get up, wag, and go for the day with a gusto that could bring anything on.  No expectations.  Start from a place of joy and build on that.

Write a Love List about what was indeed great about 2011 and what you’d really like more of in your life in 2012.  Include finding more things to do with your dog.  Simply said, dogs do not judge.  They will not tell you that you can’t do something.  They will not tell you that you look bad, or you don’t know how so why try.

Go for what you want to do in 2012 with the full wag that your dog has for every single day.  Dogs are not perfectionist.  They will except that what ever it is you want to do, you don’t have to be perfect the first time.

Have an intent to do more with your dog this year.  Clear you mind.  Wag more.  Feel the abundance of simple joy.

Happy New Year.
