This is the time of year when many people start thinking about the changes they may want to make in their lives. They make New Year's resolutions. Many of these resolutions do not last but they at least start out the new year pondering these things.
Most of these New Year resolutions are personal, and will affect the person individually. Some want to lose weight, some want to quit smoking, etc. The list can be pretty endless what people may want to improve in their lives.
This is the perfect time to make New Year's resolutions for your marriage as well. This is not something that is talked about much because as we said before, most resolutions are on a more individual level, how you can improve yourself.
However, if you make your marriage a priority and focus on improving the quality of the relationship with your spouse in the new year, it will affect every other area of your life as well. People who are happier in their marriage are generally happier in all areas.
So here are some New Year's resolutions for marriage:
1. Spend more time together.
2. Spend quality interactive time together.
3. Compliment each other.
4. Give appreciation for all that your spouse does.
5. Show little acts of love that are important to your spouse.
6. Love your spouse the way they need to be loved.
7. Flirt with each other.
8. Always let your spouse know how much you love them.
9. Always show and tell your spouse that they are the most important to you.
10. Call, or text them just to tell them how much you love them.
These are just a few of endless possibilities to improve your relationship. You know the things that make your spouse feel special and loved, so do those things. And, if you don't know, ask. It is very important that you love your spouse the way they need to be loved, not the way you need to be loved. The things that you need may not be the same things they need.
So take time to consider what things you can do to improve your marriage this year. You can share your lists with each other, and lovingly help each other to stay on track with these new improvements. And, the benefits that come from making your marriage a # 1 priority will continue to encourage you to keep going and make even more improvements so that you can have a long and happy life together.
