Survival should be the theme for New Year’s Eve this year. For a generation we have had this gloom and doom lurking over us that the world would be over yet again. 2012 was one hell-of-a year for many. Whether prophecies are still yet to be fulfilled or aliens are due to appear or the Anunnaki want their gold, we are all still here and living life the best we can. With that in mind, this New Year’s Eve in Tucson, Arizona promises to be one of the most memorable bar nights this year. No matter where you are celebrating or how you are bringing in the New Year, please get home safe and do not drive under the influence. But, most of all and more than anything else, have a blast!
Downtown and 4th Avenue will be flooded with people. All of the resorts have glamorous events planned as well as every local bar and pub giving their own rendition of Auld Lang Syne. With the city all a buzz the party seeking Tucsonan has a plethora of events to choose from North, East, South, and West.
Downtown has been the focal point for construction and congestion so if you plan on joining the masses you may want to carpool or call a transportation service rather than risk your vehicle. Every bar, club and theater will have an entertaining event planned from I-10 to 6th and Campbell.
“I think this year is interesting.” says, Ronnie Spece, Owner of PHAT Entertainment and Music Director at Playground, “We are offering a musical lineup unlike any other in Tucson with national and local talent. It’s also Playground’s first New Year’s Eve, which is exciting for us.” Playground is right in the middle of the action on Congress for New Year’s Eve. One of two venues with an open deck with Sapphire reveling its latest installations for the first time on New Year's Eve. You will also see new and improved amenities at Zen Rock and new venues like JunXion Bar will get to show off for the first time to a massive crowd.
Ticket prices average $20 to $30 in most places so be prepared to spend some of that hard earned cash if you want to be in the scene. However there are a few places that will offer no cover at all and only require you to buy a meal or a few drinks to attend and can be equally as entertaining. Sir Veza’s is having their Beer Budget NYE, “From the old saying; “champagne taste on a beer budget.” says, Ray Flores Owner/President Sir Veza’s and El Charro Café, “In other words, we are going to have great taste, but with low costs!” Keep your eyes open to some of your favorite weekend hots pots and concerts halls to give you a little more and take advantage of it all.
All appetites will be filled this New Year’s Eve so be sure to bundle up forget the end of the world and plan to have the night of your life because you deserve it.
