New Year’s Eve photos: Sydney ushers in 2014 with amazing fireworks display

Over one million people gathered around the Sydney skyline and watched the moment when the heavens exploded to celebrate the welcoming of 2014. The city was full of people celebrating and the media reported that over one billion watched the show on Tuesday night as it was broadcast live online to people around the world. The display was more of a traditional theme and Euronews reported it was flawless but it was more extravagant than ever before.

Lighting up the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House, fans watched in awe as the colors from the explosions seemed to rain down on the waters below. Many fans found the perfect viewing area was on the waters and the harbor was full of boats by nightfall.

Due to the time zones around the globe, Sydney is one of the first cities that celebrated 2014 first. It’s obvious the moment arrived with pageantry and flair. Leaving the locals and visitors impressed at the annual pyrotechnic display.
