New Year's Eve party hats

Making party hats is a great activity for children of all ages and a fun way to ring in the New Year.  Having a variety of materials available will make it even more exciting and allow the children to make their own creative hats.

What you need:

- Hat template (this one is from Nickjr.com)
- Different colored construction paper
- Glue / tape
- Embellishments (different shapes cut from construction paper, glitter, paint, crayons, markers, stickers, pom poms, ribbon
- Hole punch

Directions:

-Print the hat template from above, trace onto construction paper and cut out (older children can do this step themselves).
-Let the children decorate the hats however they choose. The ribbon that is coming out of the top of the hat was taped to the inside.
-When the children have finished decorating, fold the hat and glue it together.
-Punch holes on each side of the bottom of the bottom of the hat to attach the ribbon.  You can put a knot in the ribbon to attach or tape the ribbon to the inside.

Wear and celebrate 2011!!
