It's New Year's Eve 2012, and with that many people will be partying live in Times Square in New York City to watch the ball drop. Not only will millions watch the event happen on TV, but many will watch the ball drop online via live streaming feeds available from multiple webcams on the web.
The Times Square live stream feed will show the ball drop at midnight as 2013 officially arrives, according to Mashable.com as of Dec. 31. On television, Ryan Seacrest and assorted musical guests will bring in the New Year on ABC's annual special. Carson Daly will do the same on NBC, while Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper will do so for CNN. Other stars including "Jersey Shore" star JWoww and actor Marlon Wayans, will bring in the New Year 2013 on MTV and FOX, respectively.
The live stream from Times Square in NYC can be witnessed on several websites. One of them is at the official Times Square website, while the other is via multiple webcams at EarthCam.com. These will include various live video feeds from different cities and countries, showing the celebrations as spectators welcome the good cheer and fortune of a brand new year.
A report earlier today from Chicago Tribune indicated that up to a million people are estimated to be in attendance at Times Square. There will be another billion watching on TV. The good news for those watching on television, is there are restrooms nearby. Those attending live are stuck in "pens" and not permitted to leave once they entered them. Luckily, no alcoholic beverages were allowed in there either, to help with the restroom issue a bit.
Which TV special do you plan to watch the ball drop on? Are you a traditional "Rockin' New Year's Eve" type, or do you prefer another channel's TV special?
