New Year’s Day 2013 BCS Bowl TV schedule: Orange, Rose Bowl top football frenzy

Happy New Year everyone! Jan. 1 is not only the first day of a New Year, but it’s one of the best days of the year if you are a college football fan. It’s a wall-to-wall football extravaganza as some of the best college bowl games will be on display.

The only thing a true football fan needs today is his favorite beverage, chips and dip, and of course the remote control as changing channels will be a top priority to keep up with all the action!

The day kicks off at high noon with the Gator Bowl and Heart of Dallas Bowl, but before those games even reach halftime, the Outback Bowl and Capital One Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. EST.

The final two games of the day will be the Rose and Orange Bowl. All 6 games will be carried by the ESPN family of networks.

Here is a look at the schedule for all of today’s action.

  • Capital One Bowl: ABC 1 p.m. EST, Georgia (11-2) vs. Nebraska (10-3)
  • Outback Bowl: ESPN 1 p.m. EST, South Carolina (10-2) vs. Michigan (8-4)
  • Heart of Dallas Bowl: ESPNU Noon, Purdue (6-6) vs. Oklahoma State (7-5)
  • Gator Bowl: ESPN2 Noon, Mississippi State (8-4) vs. Northwestern (9-3)
  • Orange Miami, Fla. ESPN 8:30 p.m., Florida State (11-2) vs. N. Illinois (12-1)
  • Rose Pasadena, Calif. ESPN 5 p.m., Stanford (11-2) vs. Wisconsin (8-5)
