I don’t know about you, but for me it’s that time once again to reflect back on what 2013 has brought, and where I’d like to go as the New Year begins.
For most, there is a degree of planning involved…some of these plans diligently recorded on paper, to check off as they are accomplished; others are just a mish-mash of scattered aspirations in their head that may, or may not, happen. Success will depend upon how serious the intent. For many it is to stop smoking, or perhaps start; for others it could be watching their diet and eating less; many desire to retain a positive attitude—no matter what—when everything around us can seem so negative.
And, for those of us involved in ghostly “mysteries” and paranormal investigation, it just very well may be taking a hard look at the reasons we do what we do.
Intention…is it to satisfy our own personal spiritual journey and quest for knowledge? For the majority I would suspect so. For others, it just vey well may be for kicks and an adrenaline rush. There is no right or wrong. The study of the paranormal is not, regardless of what is claimed by television or supposed “experts,” a science, or recognized as one. For the time being it can only be classified as a recreational pursuit. And at the end of the day it all depends on the individuals involved and what satisfies their curiosity. They are the driving force that will carry this “hobby” into the future.
The pursuit of spiritual presences, resulting in proof of life after death—at least on the earthly plane—will continue into 2014. That’s a given! This paranormal choo-choo is long from over. Fascination with the subject will continue its steady and predictable pace, encouraged by the media and endorsed by the public.
However, when reasonable explanations for paranormal experiences fall by the wayside and become a big question mark, will investigative groups finally try a different tact? Will 2014 be the year when it all finally comes together and proof of the existence of ghostly activity is validated?
Will it be just another year of the same pursuit, using the same old tired methods that in the past have only produced more questions than answers? Maybe it’s time for a change.
Will it be another year’s acquisition of equipment, and bells and whistles that, although producing “curious” results, have really added nothing concrete to evidence that would satisfy the harshest skeptic? Perhaps the equipment should be utilized in a different fashion.
Will it be another year of approaching a purported haunted location with the same old mindset heavily influenced by the television ghost shows? Perhaps a different mindset will ultimately produce a different outcome.
Maybe…just maybe…being open to the suggestion that all things “paranormal” may just be inter-related and from one source. Perhaps we have been looking at things all wrong, all these years. It may be time to adjust our thinking accordingly.
It’s time—2014—to tweak our thoughts regarding the paranormal, hopefully resulting in adjusting our methods to validate there is certainly something to it all. It very well may just all fall into place, and we carry on from there.
Paranormal realities will carry on…the old continually—and as if on schedule—replaced by the new. In 2014 new venues will open as others close. Investigative groups will come and go. New books, television series highlighting the paranormal, and movies will make their mark on the ghost community, all with the intent of feeding and sustaining the interest. And that interest will continue to ride the tide…on into the shoreline and splashing across the beach.
Happy New Year and happy hunting!
