New year, new you, new wardrobe

With the beginning of a new year, comes the tried and true tradition of making and breaking new years resolutions. When it comes to fashion, each new year brings a plethora of new styles, trends, and go-to pieces, but it also reminds the average shopper just how important those key, timeless fashion pieces and accessories are.

As we leave the holiday season, and head into the winter months, fashion seems to fall to the wayside, until all the summer collections come to the runways and make us excited about the change in seasons. But there is no reason why the winter months can not be a fashionista's dream. Big knits, tights, leggings, boots and winter accessories only get to make an appearance for a few short months.

This winter, instead of hiding out indoors in sweatpants and your old college sweaters, wrap yourself up in cashmere and merino wool. When it comes to big knits, they tend to break the bank, but do not shy away from purchasing one or two great pieces that will have great longevity and be timeless.

Stick with neutral, timeless colours and material, that will ensure the money spent on winter pieces is worth it. If you are someone who loves to be on trend, and trying all the new styles, look for cheaper materials that will bring the cost down - or play around with trendy accessories (scarves, snoods, arm warmers, etc). This will allow you to still look amazing, but without spending all your Christmas money at once.
