New Year, new dog? Try dog training classes from Misha May

Starting this month, the Misha May Foundation will begin a new series of dog training classes. The Misha May Foundation was founded to give dogs (and cats) with more difficult temperaments all the care, attention and training they need to become well-mannered and well-adjusted pets. Dog training classes are just one of the many ways they help keep Metro area pets in their loving homes.

Dog Training Introduction to Puppy Socialization and Obedience – This FREE class will take place starting January 12 at various times and locations. No dogs are needed and RSVP’s are preferred. Get the full schedule of dates, times and locations from the Misha May website.

Weekly Puppy Socialization Classes – These classes are FREE and begin Saturday, January 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Playful Pooch Dog Daycare and Boarding, 4000 Holly Street, Denver. Puppies up to six months of age will play, learn and develop a positive association with their world and everything in it. Positive, supportive and developmentally appropriate activities with handouts are included. Dogs must have proof of shots to attend. See website for all dates.

Reiki Sessions for Animals – These donation-only sessions will be held at the new Lakewood Kriser’s All Natural and Organic Pet Food Store on January 17, February 21 and March 21. Appointments are necessary and a suggested donation of $20 is requested, but any amount is acceptable. Call 303-239-0382 to set up an appointment.

Six-week Basic Obedience & Good Manners Class – Starting Saturday, February 2, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. This dog training course will be taught at the Playful Pooch in Denver. Registration is required because space is limited. Early bird discount of $100 is available until January 26. Cost is $125 after.

Single-Theme Behavior classes – These classes help to address specific behavior issues for dogs and their families. Separate classes work on such problems as digging and barking, leash walking, and door manners. Classes are $25 if paid two days prior to the class, $35 after and discounts are available for those who sign up for several classes at once. For example, two classes are $40 up to two days prior the class of choice. Learn more from the Misha May website.

Payments can be made on the Misha May website through Pay Pal or call 303-239-0382 for more information.

Founded shortly after the death of her beloved dog Misha in 2000, Lorraine May helped create a special animal rescue organization that specializes in rescuing difficult to place dogs and cats. To help keep pets in their homes and out of shelters, the Misha May Foundation offers dog training and behavior classes to the public. The Misha May Foundation is a non-profit organization that receives funding from private donations, income from training classes and the work of a dedicated group of volunteers. Donations are tax-deductible. Learn more from the Misha May website or from their Facebook page.
