Big snowstorm threatens New York Tri-State second day of New Year. Just a day and a half ago, New York City welcomed the New Year with about a million revelers to ring in New Year and watch the most popular crystallized ball drop in Times Square.
Confetti came down Times Square like a colorful snowstorm midnight Wednesday, today a real snowstorm is brewing and it won’t be so colorful. Tons of white snow is expected to blanket New York and the northern states with accumulations about 6 to 14 inches in some areas.
New York, who just welcomed and sworn in new Mayor, Bill deBlasio, is ready and armed with salt, shovels and hundreds of sanitation plows to clear paths and roads to busiest city.
“We are 100 percent ready,” boasted the new Mayor, who is being tested to handle his new job with heavy responsibilities.
According to local meteorologists, snow will come heaviest around 7:00 p.m., and into Friday morning. Also, street cleaning rules are suspended today.
Stocking up with food, water and needed medicine is recommended for the first snow blizzard of the year. There is always bundling up and dressing the kids warm to play in the expected blizzard, winter wonderland.
