It is a new year and for many people a chance to make career changes. In Columbia there are opportunities that can aid in those changes. One place is the Richland County Public library. The Richland County Public library offers free workshops and services on job hunting throughout the year. These workshops and services are an excellent opportunity to help people look for a job, change careers or just want to gain more information. The main library located at 1431 Assembly Street Columbia, SC 29201 host most of the workshops at the business and job center on the third level. The services offered are: Computer access, career coaching, interview practice and classes.

Computer access is available during library working hours. There are 18 computers designated for library patrons or guests to use up to 3 hours at a time for job searching. Career Coaching is available by appointment call 803-988-0897. These are conducted by certified career development facilitators that assist with résumés, job applications, career assessments, job search and networking strategies, and online presence. The interview practice is available Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There are trained personal to assist with interview practice by giving constructive feedback while conducting individual mock interviews. There are classes offered throughout the week and on weekends. The lists for January classes are listed here.
