A new year means New Year's resolutions and at the top of the list for many is getting healthy and in shape. For those who are bored with the gym and are looking for some new and innovative ways to shed pounds and get a good workout, Lynne Begier, owner of Back Bay Yoga and Sweat and Soul Yoga in Boston has two innovative workouts that will keep you on target with your New Year's resolutions.
Begier has trademarked Hip Hop Yoga and is the first studio in Boston to bring in the Real Ryder bikes. “Both the Real Ryder and Hip Hop Yoga classes add a new twist to long standing cardio and strength training workouts, that are reshaping bodies, minds and exercise regimens,” Begier tells this Examiner.
Begier says the Real Ryder bikes puts a whole new spin on indoor cycling, “They are the only stationary bikes in the world that move laterally, allowing riders to lean into a turn. The added movement creates a workout that is more dynamic, intense and comprehensive than a traditional indoor cycling bike. You can burn about five hundred to six hundred and fifty calories in a forty five minute workout and it is a great workout for all levels as it is easy as riding a bike without the risk of falling off or competing with traffic.”
For those worried about bulking up in their thighs and calves Begier says if you take a real ryde you should see the opposite, “A real ryde will not make you bulk up, shaping long lean legs and shredding excess body fat are what R3 rydes deliver. The quick rotations on the bike will make your legs leaner. When you have toned, lean leg muscles, even in a relaxed state they burn fat. Take a look at outdoor professional cyclists’ legs, no bulk, just long lean muscular legs.”
The Real Ryder classes are set to upbeat music similar to Hip Hop Yoga classes. Hip Hop Yoga is a Vinyasa Yoga class and Begier says it can also help reshape your body, “Hip Hop Yoga is a vigorous workout and when practiced regularly practitioners say they not only lose body fat but their muscles are sculpted and more defined without adding bulk. Hip Hop Yoga helps to increase your endurance and stamina and you might even notice cravings for bad things like sugar and junk food might dissipate.”
In addition to seeing changes in your body Begier says you will probably see a positive difference in your mood “Hip Hop Yoga is set to a fun playlist and if you love music like we here at Bay Back Yoga and Sweat and Soul Yoga do, you will want to get up and dance. It’s like a party without the drugs and alcohol. You’ll feel exhilarated and that makes your whole life more enjoyable.”
Begier says anyone can take a Real Ryder or Hip Hop Yoga class and all levels are welcome. For more information about Hip Hop Yoga at Back Bay Yoga located at 364 Boylston St. in Boston click here.
