Gal Gadot is an Israeli model/actress who has been cast to play Wonder Woman in the film "Batman vs. Superman."
While Gal is clearly beautiful, she has some big shoes to fill playing the role immortalized by Lynda Carter, who's still smoking-hot at 62.
But Gadot is up for the challenge, having served in the Israeli military as a fitness trainer, CNN reported. Gal's military background was one of the reasons why "Fast & Furious" director Justin Lin cast her as Gisele in three "Fast & Furious" films (from 2009 to 2011).
"Justin really liked that I was in the Israeli military, and he wanted to use my knowledge of weapons," said Gadot.
Skinny-Shaming Backlash Begins
Before going into the army, Gal won the Miss Israel beauty pageant in 2004, which launched her modeling career. The willowy 5-foot-9 Gadot is longtime workout fanatic who swears by a healthy diet and regular exercise.
"I’m a big fan of a good diet and healthy lifestyle," she told Filler. "It's important to eat a lot of vegetables, drink a lot of water, and stay active. I believe that what we put in our bodies will reflect on the outside."
For exercise, Gal does yoga and Pilates workouts. Gadot is married to Yaron Varsano, a Dutch-Israeli hotelier, and has a two-year-old daughter, Alma.
Meanwhile, the backlash has already started against Gal, who is being accused of being too skinny to play Wonder Woman. Gadot's casting has blown up social media, with naysayers insisting she is not a realistic choice for Wonder Woman, who's supposed to be an Amazon warrior princess.
