The word on the street – or in this case Pennsylvania Avenue – is that Pete Rouse, who will be replacing Rahm Emanuel as President Obama’s chief of staff is a ‘big cat guy.’ According to Canada’s National Post, Rouse is an intensely private, single man who lives with his two cats and ‘really, really loves cats.’
CNN reports:
Everyone from Daschle to Senate Minority Whip Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggests that the key to getting on Rouse's good side is to express interest in his cats - two loyal companions who never ask him about policy and politics at the end of a long day.
"He loves cats, and the way to suck up to Pete is to get him sort of a cat gift of some kind," Daschle said
Also, according to the Post, Rouse’s affection for cats bodes well for US-Canada relations since Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife also share a mutual love of cats.
As for Rouse’s cats, they are Maine Coons, notes the Christian Science Monitor.
