Game developer Naughty Dog's new horror/survival video game "The Last of Us" may not even be out yet, but it's already making waves. The video game has inspired a new web series by Manifest Film called "What Remains."

Watch the teaser trailer for "What Remains" right here.

"What Remains" takes place in the same post-apocalyptic world as "The Last of Us," but stars different characters. Judging by the brief trailer, they're sparing no expense on making this horror thriller of a series look as realistic as possible. The trailer is a glimpse at the first episode.

Originally conceived as a way to increase awareness for "The Last of Us," "What Remains" is an epic live-action series about what it means to be human when humanity's time has passed.

In both "The Last of Us" and "What Remains," humanity has been decimated by a fungal infection that takes over and controls the infected, turning them into cannibalistic hive-minded slaves to the fungus. While Naughty Dog has said that the fungus-infected are not technically zombies, they are enough like zombies to make "The Last of Us" fit in well with the zombie genre of video games and appeal to zombiephiles everywhere.

Stay informed, stay alive: "The Last of Us" will be released on May 7th, 2013 from Naughty Dog for PlayStation3. Visit Naughty Dog's website for more information on "The Last of Us." There's no word yet on when the first episode of "What Remains" will be released.
