Saving Animals Canada has just released a new video entitled Chicken: The Hidden Truth.
The short video, which runs just under 10 minutes long, includes interviews with a local Vancouver activist who rescued a broiler chicken, as well as other Vancouver-area activists. The story of Belinda, the rescued chicken, is woven together with information about the chicken industry.
Broiler chickens (the kind of chicken raised for meat) have been bred to grow so fast that they are ready for slaughter at just 6 weeks old. Rescued broiler chickens are only able to live up to about a year and a half old. Because they've been bred to grow so big so quickly their breast muscles actually grow too large and eventually will crush their internal organs. Many rescued broiler chickens die of heart attacks; others literally explode as their organs are squeezed out of their bodies. All of them face respiratory, cardio-vascular, muscle, and bone issues.
Even the chickens raised on organic and free range farms are the same breed of chicken and face the same issues of health and suffering.
The video was put together by a long-time local Vancouver animal rights activist.

This is more lies by animal rights radicals. These chickens are bred for food and they are not pets. Chickens will just fight each other and peck each other to death. Their brain is the size of a pea. This is an example of the irrational thought and overly emotional behavior one finds in people who have been eating vegan for so long that their VB12 is low and so are the essential nutrients they get from meat. What many people do not understand is the reason for the goal to put everyone on a vegan diet. Well for some its to save the poor animals, but that means the extinction of domestic animals. If we don't have any use for them they will die out. So it can't be for the welfare of the pet that we don't eat. Nor for the farm animals that we do eat, as they cannot sustain themselves. So Why? Hitler invented animal rights to control the population of Germany so you can bet these people have some reason for controlling you. What is the first thing any cult does with new members?
They control what they eat because eating meat or complex proteins feed the brain. Cut those off and your thinking becomes irrational and overly emotional. You can be persuaded to do anything by the leader. So, before you advocate a vegan diet you had better read up on the consequences to young men and women that go vegan. The dark side includes death, damage to internal organs when putting children on this diet. For boys the soy is a real problem and its the only vegetable that comes close to the complex proteins found in cows milk or meat. Singer the leader of the animal rights movement has espoused this line of thinking not because he cares about animals or humans, but just to see how far a strange idea can be carried out in society. His last article in the New York Times called on all of our young people to neuter themselves and then party down until the last human being dies out. This is who these young people are following. The pied piper to ill health.
Those who have been vegan for much longer that these young people know that one must eat meat and they do advocate that preganant women and growing children eat meat, drink milk and consume fish regularly. They do not advocate a strict no animal vegan diet as that means death. Again, the main identifier of a cult is that it requires you to remove meat from your diet on the pretext that it is cleansing. However the real purpose of the cult in having you stop ingesting meat is because meat rebuilds the body and the brain through a balance of complex proteins and essential nutrients in combination with VB12. VB12 and these essential nutrients rebuild the cells of the brain and the body. When you are out of balance and low in VB12 your thinking becomes irrational and your behavior responses are overly emotional.
Here are some recent examples of the consequences of eating a vegan diet on children and young adults:
In a heartbreaking case of parental abuse, a 12-year-old girl in Scotland has been admitted to a hospital after a life-long vegan diet left her with the spine of an 80-year-old. Prevented from eating animal food products since birth, the young child developed a degenerative bone condition and numerous bone fractures as a result of nutritional deficiencies. This is not the first time a child has suffered a vegan-related health calamity. A 15-month-old child was taken into foster care after a strict vegan diet left her with internal injuries, broken bones, missing teeth, and rickets. And since then, at least two vegan children have died from similar complications. In one Florida case, a 5-month-old girl was still at newborn weight when she died from malnutrition. Her siblings were severely malnourished, and at least two had developed rickets. These grievous examples show how important it is to exercise caution when promoting vegetarian and vegan diets especially for children. A New York Times columnist explained after a 6-week-old Atlanta vegan died last year:
A vegan diet will lack vitamin B12, found only in animal foods; usable vitamins A and D, found in meat, fish, eggs and butter; and necessary minerals like calcium and zinc. When babies are deprived of all these
nutrients, they will suffer from retarded growth, rickets and nerve damage. As animal activists tout the myth that humans can do without meat,it’s important to note that a vegan diet is downright dangerous unless it’s undertaken with extreme caution and animal products are added to the diet. Not all people can digest protein from plant material and especially children as the volume required to get any of these nutrients is very large in plant diets. Extra steps like vitamin supplements and careful planning are particularly crucial for kids,
since their bodies are not fully developed. Yet vegan activists at PETA and HSUS along with the woefully misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible
Medicine (PCRM) continue to push vegan diets on children.
Some 12 million infants and young children die each year in developing countries from complications of marasmus (protein-caloriedeficiency) and kwashiorkor (severe protein deficiency). Diarrhea,dehydration, and infection are generally the immediate causes of
death in malnourished children. Kwashiorkor manifests clinically with stunted growth, mental apathy, edema, a desquamating patchy rash, and pigment changes in the hair and skin. Children with marasmus typically retain mental alertness and do not have edema or rash.
Autopsies of children dying of kwashiorkor and marasmus show pancreatic atrophy or fibrosis and fatty changes or fibrosis in the liver. Malnutrition is one of the many risks when raising infants on a vegan diet. Medical reports show that newborns should mainly be raised on their mother's breast milk, not soy milk.The digestion of soy milk during pregnancy has become a growing controversy. A new study of babies born to vegetarian mothers showed that baby boys had a five-fold risk of hypospadias, a birth defect of the penis. According to research stated by Jane Phillimore in the
"Guardian Unlimited," "The researchers suggest this was due to greater exposure to phytoestrogen rich-foods, especially soy. Inappropriate hormone levels such as that caused by a high intake of soy during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy can also cause damage to
the fetus's developing brain." Research has shown that soy-formula contains approximately the same amount of estrogen found in five birth control pills. Imagine the
effect this has on children, not to mention baby boys. "These babies' isoflavone levels were found to be from 13,000 to 22,000 times higher than in non-soy fed infants," according to www.mercola.com. Not only
would males be digesting surplus amounts of estrogen in their soy diet, but the estrogen has also been shown to actually stifle their testosterone levels.
Exploding chickens what numskull believes this kind of propaganda. The sky is falling, the sky is falling chicken little. In the first place there is a skeleton between the meat muscles and the internal organs. I have seen commercial meat chickens and they are very aggressive and can run and fight. His chicken that he stole from the commercial house which I doubt, he probably bought a cast off chicken from a feed store, has caught some disease or was born with a deformity. These people are masters of making fake videos and lying to the public. Those of you who have grown up on farms know this stuff they spew out is wrong. Its you city folk who are being led down the path by lies made up by people who have lost their minds. The German High Court has found PeTA guilty of making false charges. They tracked down the people in the video where an animal was shown being skinned alive. The animal rights nut who filmed it paid the native to do this act. Both of them confessed. Now PeTA has been ordered to turn over all videos and the names of the people in them. They have of course yet to do that. They can lie all over the internet, but don't believe them as these people are intent on doing you harm.
Considering that these chickens are only meant to be alive for a very short time (I believe that they reach butchering weight in 6-8 weeks), "rescuing" the bird is in itself cruel if you ask me. They are bred and raised to be eaten, and not to become someone pet or to be used by the vegan left. People and groups like HSUS and PETA use animals for their gains far more than any of the people or group that they accuse of "exploiting" animals for "profit." When I or any other animal industry finally have hundreds of millions of dollars in our coffers all gotten because we begged and solicited money off of the public with decades old pictures and lies of exploding chickens, then I'll consider myself to be "profiting" from animals. You people disgust me...
