New twist on ugly: Holiday party encourages theft and ugly food

Put a new twist on Ugly for the holidays: Ugly hats, Ugly outfits, Ugly sweaters. The winner with the ugliest (hat, outfit, sweater) gets a prize. The only rule: Ugly hats stay on until after the prize. Teens will love this theme, but grown-ups like it too.

As host of the Ugly holiday party make sure you serve ugly food. Ask your friends to bring ugly snacks to share. The person who brings the ugliest snack gets a prize. Take pictures of snacks and have everyone vote on the ugliest one.

Ugly Party Games

  • Put the numbers in a bowl and have each person draw a number.
  • Number 1 gets a present.
  • Number 2 can choose a gift or rob Number 1.
  • Number 3 can robs 1 or 2; they in turn can rob each other or 3.

Ugly Snacks

The dips taste great but can look ugly dumped in a bowl. Not ugly enough? Add blue food coloring.

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Ranch dressing
  • 3/4-cup pepper sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Ugly Dip

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1-cup mayonnaise
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chili peppers, drained
  • 1 (7 ounce) can Mexican-style corn, drained
  • 1 green onion, chopped

Directions:
Mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, diced tomatoes, corn and green onion in a bowl. Serve immediately or chill.

Cream Cheese Dip

  • 2 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • Chopped onions to taste
  • Chili powder to taste
  • Ketchup

Mix all ingredients. Add enough Ketchup to tint the cream cheese a light pinkish color.

Ugly Gooey Butter Cake

Gooey Butter cake originated in St. Louis. When you make your Gooey Butter cake, tint the cream cheese filling pea-green or blue. It won't affect the taste.

Keep the theme "ugly." Instead of cutting brownies or cake in nice squares, use tablespoon to "hunk" the pieces on the platter. Make misshapen cookies. Use ugly serving dishes.
