New TV pilots for Krysten Ritter and Sara Michelle Gellar announced (Photos)

Pilot season I well underway and some big names are being snatched up for new shows. Deadline reported on Feb 15 that Krysten Ritter was quickly signed to a first look deal with NBC where she will produce and star in "Assistance." Sarah Michelle Gellar has also been booked for a pilot according to Hollywood Reporter on Feb 15, her CBS comedy "Crazy Ones" will co-star comedic genius and Oscar winner Robin Williams.

Krysten Ritter was highly acclaimed in her recently cancelled "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23" so when the actress hit the open market she was heavily courted according to Deadline. There was no surprise when NBC, a network known for comedy, signed Ritter. The new pilot is written by Leslye Headland and began its evolution as a play. Ritter is cast as an assistant who is torn between her "work husband" and her fiancé, all while being bullied by an insane boss. The workplace comedy will be single-camera and is backed by the comedy powerhouse Will Ferrell whose production company Gary Sanchez Prods is involved.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams will also bring an interesting new comedy to pilot season with "Crazy Ones." The CBS effort centers around a father-daughter business partnership that seems anything but typical. Gellar will play a driven executive who is often stuck parenting her father. A new look into the workings of an ad agency will also provide comedic opportunities for Gellar and Williams.

Both comedies are looking for a spot in the 2013 Fall lineup which is typically announced in May. Pilot season is full of hopeful comedies and dramas, some competition includes a re-working of the Cameron Diaz movie, "Bad Teacher" and a CW pilot "The Selection" which is a take on the hit film "The Hunger Games."
