New “Transformers” movie opens to monster weekend

The latest Transformers movie was able to not only grab the top spot but essentially dominate the box office as it was able to have the biggest opening of 2014 so far.

The fourth movie in the series titled Age of Extinction was able to grab $100 million it’s opening weekend, $300 million worldwide. Despite it only having 17% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, fans came out in droves to give the movie a big opening. The big opening will do doubt be short lived as the word of mouth of the movie will perhaps keep people from seeing it or from fans seeing it multiple times.

For the rest of the box office, 22 Jump Street remains in the second spot as it brings in an estimated $15 million in it’s 3rd week. With it’s total this weekend, the movie was able to surpass the first movie’s box office total which only took in $138 million.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 does well with an estimated $13 million. The movie should be able to pass it’s $145 million budget with in the next week or two.

Think Like a Man Too falls down the charts with it’s estimated $10 million and Maleficent stills brings in a crowd with an estimated $8 million.

With the beginning of a new month, there is another list of movies set to come out that will certainly change the box office from week to week. July is going to be a relatively slow month with no big box office budget movie set to come out.
