A new trailer, the second one at that, has arrived for the highly-anticipated, upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man.
Looking more impressive than the first trailer, the lack of CG and the darker mood (as many of the action scenes happen in the dark) of the trailer may remind one of the recent Batman films. The Lizard is the main villain this time around and a snippet of dialog appears to hint that Peter Parker, who is also a science whiz, may be partly responsible for Dr. Curt Connors turning into The Lizard.
Synopsis:
Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy, and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors, his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
For better or for worse, the film will be in 3-D. According to the director Marc Webb ( [500] Days of Summer ):
"Because we're shooting in 3D, I wanted to conceive of certain things very specifically for 3D. There's an experiential component to 3D that's fascinating and we're experimenting with generating that point of view – so you feel what Peter Parker feels, you feel what Spider-Man feels when he's jumping over buildings and over the streets, that sort of thing. But we made a very, and Andrew had to pay the price for this, very conscious effort to ground stunts." (source: ScreenRant)
A viral campaign called The Mark of the Spider-Man appears to also be in the works. The mysterious website, TheMarkOfTheSpider-Man.com so far only shows six video screens displaying static.
Directed by Marc Webb, and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, and C. Thomas Howell, The Amazing Spider-Man comes to Orange County theaters on July 3rd, 2012.
