We're past the point of seeing Terrence Malick as some recluse who pops his head out every twenty years or so, drops a new film on us, then goes back into hiding. The guy is hanging out at film festivals and releasing new films at the rate of one every two years or so. Nobody's ever going to confuse him with Takashi Miike, but Malick's prolific streak has been hugely exciting to watch.
A new trailer for his sixth film, To the Wonder, has been released and it again shows us the gorgeous cinematography by The Tree of Life's Emmanuelle Lubezki. Ben Affleck and Olga Kurylenko star as a couple who meet and fall in love while in France, returning to his hometown in Oklahoma where things don't go quite as smoothly. Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem co-star, and it looks like another poetic and heartfelt piece by Malick.
To the Wonder opens in theaters on April 12th.
