Platinum Games announced today on Jan. 15 that a new demo for "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" will be released on Jan. 22 on the Playstation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace. To celebrate the announcement and generate interest within the gaming community Konami released a new seven-minute trailer (look below) edited by Hideo Kojima himself that includes cut-scenes and actual gameplay.
The trailer begins with a driving sequence narrated by a raspy-voiced Raiden that soon turns into a full on chase from the authorities. After a somewhat cheesy dialogue exchange between Raiden and the police, not unlike some of the dialogue in other Metal Gear games, the trailer shows off the body and limb filled gameplay that brings to mind the excessive violence of the "Mortal Kombat" reboot released in 2011. No doubt advocates against violent video games will be jumping up to battle the sale of "MGR:Revengeance" in the next month and after its February release.
With the well received release of "DmC: Devil May Cry" this week, there might be a renewed vigor for hack n' slash gaming, but whether or not "MGR: Revengeance" will live up to the hype remains to be seen. Make sure to check out the demo when it is released next week and comment below on your impressions of "MGR: Revengeance" and whether or not you will be buying it upon release.
"Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance" will be released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on Feb. 19.
