The most inspirational hour...on RADIO!
In 2006, Oprah Winfrey and I started New Thought Talk radio shows. In that same year, the book and movie, The Secret, introduced the world to some of the most basic tenets of New Thought.
The real secret is that Greater Tampa Bay is home to one of the most progressive New Thought communities in the nation.
With more than 15 Unity Churches along Florida's Gulf coast, area tithing in large part provides funding for the daily inspiration publication The Daily Word known throughout the Christian world; the renown Unity Village, Missouri campus and its 24-hour phone prayer line (the first).
History
Formally associated with Unity and Unitarian churches over the last two centuries, New Thought includes a berth of spiritual traditions based on the enlightened teachings of Christ. Though not new in concept or study, living the teachings of Christ as a whole is indeed a new practice.
When we talk about the abundance of life both immaterial and material, forgiveness and transcendence of death, it is only recently that these aspirations have moved from the realm of Sainthood and the world of "woo woo" into mainstream thought.
Many now believe that Christ's lifetime on earth represents the simplest demonstration of all spiritual teachings known up to then and since. Stunned for two millennia by Christ's manifestation of the greatest powers known to man: forgiveness and transcendence of death, we are only now ready to believe we too can do these things and more.
Tampa's Vibe
Tampa Bay, Florida is heavenly refuge for the chronologically mature, those running from something, those running to something, and everyone in between.
This is no small part due to the outstanding New Thought learning centers throughout the area and the uplifting energy they generate for sun coast residents. First Unity Church of Clearwater; Unity Church of St. Petersburg; Unity Church of Clearwater; Unity Church of Tampa; Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater; Unitarian Universalists of Tampa; Unity of Dunedin; Unity in the Woods Bradenton; and, Unity Temple of Truth St. Petersburg are just a few on the growing list of these creative, open learning environments for students, young and old.

Finally, my favorite thing about the New Thought community in Tampa is that it embraces our collective as well an individual humanity. They're real. Nobody expects you to occupy a certain pew or church office. They're just glad to see you when and if you come. A safe place to fall, or soar to your highest heights.
