San Antonio is a growing city and one indication is that we have new businesses popping up all over the city. For example, the list of movie theaters is expanding.
Santikos
In the community of Westover Hills, near Loop 1604 and Alamo Ranch Parkway there will be a new Santiko Theater. This will be the 8th cinema complex in San Antonio and they purchased 45 acres to build a 16-screen movie center. According to a recent press release, the construction should be completed by summer of 2014. The Granada will have a Spanish theme to the decor. The Alamo Ranch area is near Sea World and is a growing segment of residents. To learn more about the company and current promotions, click on the link above. Santikos offers a free movie series every Thursday evening at 7pm at the Santikos Bijou located at the Wonderland of the Americas.
Alamo Drafthouse
Alamo Drafthouse is also expanding. The community of New Braunfels will be gaining the benefit of a new entertainment venue. This will be the 4th location and will be at the Marketplace Shopping Center near I 35 and Highway 46. The plan is to remodel an existing space to offer an 11-screen venue with a menu of foods, beer and wine. This is a unique way to present movie viewing with a full dinner menu that includes attentive service for a "dine-in" theater experience. The current locations include Westlakes, Park North and Stone Oak. The new location will span the residents of Live Oak and San Marcos. Wired Magazine has named the movie theater as "The Coolest Movie Theater in the World".
