Are you ready to exercise your right to “Purge”?
If so, you’re in luck.
Today, Universal released a brand new trailer to “The Purge: Anarchy.”
“The Purge: Anarchy” is a sequel to the 2013 surprise box office hit “The Purge.”
The film is set in the not-too-distant future where crime is at an all time low, the reason for this peace and tranquility is the annual purge, where for one night in the year, all crime, including murder, is legal.
The original film, which starred Ethan Hawke (“Training Day”) and Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”), followed a family, who after letting in a stranger into their home must fight off a group of young Purgers.
“The Purge” released to moderate reviews, however, a 34 million dollar opening weekend with a 3 million dollar production budget made sure Writer/Director James DeMonaco retained his right to purge.
“Anarchy,” as evidenced by the new trailer, promises to be more action packed as it introduces new characters and takes the action from the confines of a large home to the streets.
The sequel follows a group as they fight to survive the annual Purge.
The cast includes “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” star Frank Grillo, “Boardwalk Empire’s” Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez and Keith Stanfield.
James DeMonaco returns to scribe and helm the sequel.
The annual Purge commences July 18.
